Abstract

There are some studies in the literature showing an increased incidence of bladder cancer when the patient has a history of interstitial cystitis. Cancer in traditional Chinese medicine is caused when there is energy deficiency and Heat retention. The Purpose of this Study: Is to demonstrate that patients with interstitial cystitis have energy deficiency inside the five internal massive organs and when they are submitted to situations that can cause decrease even more of these energies, such as the use of highly concentrated medications (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant medications), the vital energy can decrease and can cause more propensity to have cancer in the future. Methods: One case report of a patient with a history of chronic interstitial cystitis using several antibiotics to prevent and treat symptoms of urinary tract infection. She was very severe; the pain does not subside and the doctor was thinking about the possibility to take out the Bladder surgically. After this, they made a diagnosis of bladder cancer and she was submitted to treatment with BCG to cure her cancer. She returned to my clinic because she was having so many pains in the bladder without improvement using antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. I measured the energy of the five internal massive organs using the radiesthesia procedure. Results: All organs were in the lowest level of energy, rated one out of eight. The treatment of this condition was to orientate the patient to the dietary aspects and she was submitted to auricular acupuncture with apex and Bladder apex ear bloodletting. It was also prescribed highly diluted medications according to the theory of Constitutional Homeopathy of the five Elements Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and crystal-based medications. The patient improved from her pain condition and she is very well nowadays without any symptoms of interstitial cystitis. The Conclusion of this Study: Is to demonstrate that patients with interstitial cystitis have energy deficiency inside the five internal massive organs and the use of highly concentrated medication can reduce this energy, causing more propensities to have cancer.

Introduction

Chronic interstitial cystitis or bladder pain is a condition characterized by chronic suprapubic or bladder discomfort associated with urinary frequency, nocturia, and urgency in the absence of infection, or another clinical pathological condition [1]. According to Western medicine, the physio- pathological condition of this disease is not understood completely, and there are many explanations for this condition such as increased urothelial permeability, downregulation of tight junctional proteins, neurogenic inflammation and it is associated with malignant transformation [1]. There are some studies in the literature showing a higher prevalence of patients with chronic interstitial cystitis and formation of bladder cancer and they associated the use of smoke increasing the chance to have cancer among these patients [2]. According to traditional Chinese medicine, cancer comes from energy deficiency and the formation of internal Fire [3].

The Purpose of this Study

Is to demonstrate that patients with chronic interstitial cystitis have energy deficiency inside the five internal massive organs of the Five Elements Theory of traditional Chinese medicine leading to the formation of internal Fire and the use of any kind of medication or procedure that can reduce these energies, can increase the chance to have cancer, in this case, bladder cancer that has the same energy alterations that were causing chronic interstitial cystitis.

Methods

One case report of a 49-year-old female patient with a history of having chronic interstitial cystitis for about 13 years. The symptoms that she was presenting at that time were that she wants to pee every time and did not stop and burned a lot. When she goes to the bathroom, she cannot pee. It happened usually during the day and not during the night, so she can sleep. She uses antibiotics all the time because the doctors said that it was an infection and also, the doctor prescribed anti-depressant medication and said that it was also in her “mind”. But in the last thirteen years, only two urine cultures came positive. In 2010, she was referred to Hospital das Clinicas in Ribeirao Preto, to do a differential diagnosis and she was submitted to urodynamics because they were thinking of the possibility of Sjogren syndrome because her kidney paralyzed and the bladder was injured and not have the strength to expel urine. In 2013, the doctor discovered that she had metaplasia. She also received the application of Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and for some time, she begins to urinate. In 2015, the doctor applicate again the Dimethyl sulfoxide. In 2018, the pain was enormous and she was submitted to another cystoscopy that revealed that there was no urinary tract infection. She felt a lot of pain in the bladder and a lot of desire to pee all the time. The urologist recommended doing another cystoscopy because according to him, she had metaplasia. The results of this cystoscopy revealed that she had carcinoma type 1 and the bladder wall was all black, full of sore, scab and pus.

The symptoms that she was presenting at that time were a lot of pain below the belly and it was hurting during the flow of urine and she also have low back pain but no urinary tract infection was found. The doctors inserted a tube in her urinary tract and she stayed for one week urinating a lot of blood. She received radiotherapy and eight applications of BCG inside the Bladder. The radiotherapy sessions caused her a very weak state and for this reason, she divorced her husband and need to retire from her job. This disease caused many emotional problems to her that last until today. She was suffering very much with all these conditions that no one solved her problem. According to her words, the doctors were only giving her antibiotics even though the exam showed that there is no infection. The symptoms seem bladder infections because it starts urinating with a bad smell, the fever starts, and the malaise. She cannot work and all these problems became a terror in her life.

After her separation, she returned to her parent’s home and her mother always say that she is lazy and she does not help her with homework. She is a speech therapist and needs to sit in a chair for 10 hours per day for this reason, her bladder started to hurt and she cannot go to the bathroom every time due to her work. She also has fibromyalgia and headaches and her whole body hurts a lot. She also has vomiting and fatigue. She has a younger sister that also has cystitis. She went to my clinic in 2023 with the last hope because her health was in a very critical condition, she was using many kinds of medications without improving her condition, only worsening day by day. I measured the energy of the five internal massive organs (Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lungs, and Kidney) using the radiesthesia procedure.

Results

All her internal massive organs’ energy was at the lowest level of energy, rated one out of eight. The treatment of this condition began initially with Chinese dietary counseling, orientating her to avoid the ingestion of fried foods, eggs, chocolate, honey, coconut, melted cheese, pepper, and alcoholic beverages. It also orientated her to avoid the ingestion of dairy products, raw foods, Coldwater, and sweets. The last group of foods that I orientate her to avoid was the ingestion of coffee, soda, and matte tea. I did auricular acupuncture with apex ear bloodletting (in the apex and in the Bladder point in the helix) every day to spell the Heat that was in her Bladder and was prescribed highly diluted medications according to the theory of Constitutional

Homeopathy of the Five Elements Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and crystal-based medications. I gave her the first dose of highly diluted medications at 30 CH in my clinic to improve her energy condition because she was very weak at that time. I prescribed the next potency in 200 CH to be used every week together with crystal-based medications that should be used twice a day (morning and at lunchtime). I also used homeopathy medications to take out the Heat (Mercurius solubilis 200 CH and also, Escherichia Coli 200 CH 5 drops per day in apple vinegar and not in alcohol).

Nowadays, she is very happy with the results obtained from this treatment and still using all the medications prescribed to replenish the energy of all her internal massive organs for her whole life to prevent the recurrence of the symptoms of chronic interstitial cystitis and prevent the recurrence of bladder cancer increasing her immune system. I prescribed Phosphorus to replenish the energy of the Liver, Sulphur to replenish the energy of the Heart, Calcarea carbonica to replenish the energy of the Spleen, Silicea to replenish the energy of the Lungs, Natrum muriaticum to replenish the energy of the Kidney. The potency of the medications should be used initially at 30 CH, after I changed to 200 CH, and needs to be used every week for her whole life. She said that, if she did not come to do this treatment, she would die because all highly concentrated medications such as antibiotics, antidepressant medications, or anti- inflammatory medications she was using were suspended by me and she had a great improvement after this treatment.

Discussion

To understand better the physiopathology involved in the formation of Bladder cancer in patients with chronic interstitial cystitis, we will need to integrate the knowledge between Western and traditional Chinese medicine, which exists for more than 5000 years, because only using Western medicine’s reasoning, we cannot explain all the alterations involved in these two diseases [4, 5, 6]. So, this article will be written by the influences of Hippocrates (460 BCE - 375 BCE), the father of medicine, that said that “it is important to consider other ancient medical traditions prior to the knowledge we have nowadays” [7].

In another oath described by him, he said that “foolish the doctor who despises the knowledge acquired by the ancients” [7]. To understand and integrate the reasoning used by both kinds of medicine, I created a metaphor of the tree, to you understand the different levels of diagnosis and treatment of Western and traditional Chinese medicine, shown in Figure 1 [3, 8] .

Figure 1: The metaphor of the tree shows the different levels of diagnosis and treatment between both kinds of medicine.

Figure 1: The metaphor of the tree shows the different levels of diagnosis and treatment between both kinds of medicine.

In this Figure 1, you can see that this tree has a trunk with several branches, and coming out of each branch, you can see many leaves. Each branch means one medical specialty and each “leaf” means one disease treated by each medical specialty. In this case, chronic interstitial cystitis is a “leaf” of the branch of urology or nephrology [4]. But to you to understand what they have in common; you can see beyond to what our eyes cannot see usually, that is the part under the earth, that is not usually looked at by Western medical doctors, that is the “root” of the tree [9, 10]. In this “root”, there are two theories in traditional Chinese medicine; there is Yin and Yang theory and the five elements theory [11]. Yin and Yang are two opposites but complementary forces that exist in our universe in all things including the human being, represented in Figure 2 [12].

Figure 2: Yin and Yang symbol.

Figure 2: Yin and Yang symbol.

There is a necessity to balance these two forces inside the body, as you can see in the left column in Figure 3 and the imbalances between Yin and Yang energy can generate many diseases, as you can see in the same Figure 3 [13].

Figure 3: The energy imbalances between Yin and Yang energy lead to diverse clinical manifestations in the “leaf” level of many kinds of medical specialties.

Figure 4: The five Elements theory.
Figure 4: The five Elements theory.

The second theory in the “root” of the tree is the five elements theory of traditional Chinese medicine, shown in Figure 4 [9, 11].

The difference between the reasoning used by traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine’s theory is that in this theory, all internal organs are not working alone, but receives influences from another internal organ, as you can see in Generation Cycle, shown in Figure 5 [14].

Figure 5: Generation Cycle.
Figure 5: Generation Cycle.

In this cycle, you can see that one organ is sending energy to the following organ and the problem in one organ can be caused by a problem in another organ as you can see in the article written by Huang (2022) titled Is It True That Kidney Failure Diagnosed At The Laboratory Test Level Shows That The Problem Is Really In The Kidney? [15]. In this cycle, you can see that the organ that is sending energy to the following organ is called the mother and the organ that is receiving energy from the mother is called the son [16].

So, there are some theories in traditional Chinese medicine that say that, when the problem is in the son, the mother will also become ill [16]. In the case of this patient reported in this article, all organs were in the lowest level of energy, rated one out of eight, as I am showing in the article recently written by Huang (2022) titled Energy Deficiency in Chakras as the Main Cause of Chronic Interstitial Cystitis [4].

According to traditional Chinese medicine, one internal massive organ has a coupled organ that is coupled. For example, the Liver has the Gallbladder as a hollow organ, the Heart has the Small intestine as a hollow organ, the Spleen has the Stomach as a hollow organ, the Lungs has the Large intestine as a hollow organ, the Kidney has the Bladder as a hollow organ as you can see in Table 1 [17].

This patient was treated using highly concentrated medications, such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, and anti-depressant medications since the diagnosis of chronic interstitial cystitis that reduced even more her internal energy, which was already very low, and caused the evolution to cancer in her near future, as I am showing in Table 2 of the progression from health to disease [1].

Table 2: Evolution from health to disease.

In Table 1, I am showing that the progression from health to disease is divided into five phases, and in the first three phases, there are energy alterations and deficiencies but the laboratory exams are normal. In phase 4, there are alterations in the exams, such as hyperglycemia, hyper cholesterol, etc., and only in phase five, there is transformation in the cells leading to malignancy [1].

For this reason, in the first symptoms of chronic interstitial cystitis of this patient, she was treated using antibiotics but her symptoms were not improving because it was not an infection but she was still using antibiotics to see and prevent the formation of an infection, that reduced even more her internal energy, that was already very low and caused a state of more immunodeficiency, leading to a predisposition to have cancer, in this case, she developed Bladder cancer. All these explanations could be seen in the article recently written by Huang (2023) titled Can the Medications We Use Make Us More Likely to Have Cancer in the Future? [18].

Not only medications but all the things that could reduce this energy, can predispose to the formation of cancer such as the use of any kind of metallic implant inside the body such as in the teeth or in the orthopedic device, etc as I am showing in the article written by Huang (2021) titled How is the Mechanism of Immunodeficiency Caused by Metallic Implants and What Can they Cause when Inside the Patient’s Body?. and in the second article also written by Huang (2019) Can Biomaterial Surgical Implants Influence the Body’s

Health? [19, 20, 21].

The use of electromagnetic devices also can reduce our vital energy and lead to an increase in the risk to have cancer and or metastasis, as I am showing in the article written by Huang (2021) The Influence of Cell Phones and Computers on Our Immune System, and in the second article also written by Huang (2023) titled Is There a Need to Surgically Remove the Breast When the Clinical Treatment Is Radiologically Proven That There Has Been Complete Disappearance of The Breast Cancer [21, 22].

Figure 6: Arndt-Schultz Law.
Figure 6: Arndt-Schultz Law.

This is occurring because all these things can reduce the vital energy that is considered our immune system, as I am showing in the Arndt-Schultz Law, created in 1888 by two German researchers, shown in Figure 6 [23].

In this law, the use of any kind of highly concentrated medications can reduce vital energy or lead to death and for this reason, all highly concentrated medications that this patient was using were suspended ( antibiotics, anti- inflammatory medications, anti-depressant medications) the use of highly diluted medications can increase the vital energy and this is the effect that we need to have, not only in this patient reported in this article but in all kinds of patients nowadays because all of them, independently on the age group or independent on the type of diagnosis, are in the lowest level of energy, rated one out of eight in the Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lungs, and Kidney. All these alterations were shown in the article written by Huang (2021) titled Energy Alterations and Chakras’ Energy Deficiencies and Propensity to SARS-CoV-2 Infection. In this article, I am showing the result of a research that I did in my clinic analyzing 1000 patients’ energy of the five internal massive organs, shown in Table 3 [24].

In the case of this patient reported in this article, the use of highly diluted medications were used to replenish the energy of the five internal massive organs using homeopathy medications created by Hahnemann (1755 – 1843) but according to a new theory created by Huang (2020) titled Constitutional Homeopathy of the Five Elements based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and crystal-based medications, shown in Table 4 [25].

In this article, it was used as the first step, changes in the dietary aspects according to Chinese dietary counseling. In this case, Hippocrates (460 BCE - 375 BCE) is saying that “we need to use our medicine as our food and our food as our medicine”. Each food has its own energy and depending on the energy alterations presented by each patient, we will prescribe the food that could treat the energy alterations presented by the patient. [9, 26].

The second step in her treatment was to balance the energy of the five internal massive organs using auricular acupuncture with the apex ear bloodletting shown in Figures 7& 8 [3, 26].

Figure 7: Apex ear bloodletting.
Figure 7: Apex ear bloodletting.
Figure 8: Auricular acupuncture.
Figure 8: Auricular acupuncture.

Auricular acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese medicine where the ear is considered a microsystem and they have a representation of all organs that exist in the body [27]. Auricular acupuncture was made every day using mustard seeds applied through the use of adhesive tapes in the points shown in Figure 8 [27]. In traditional Chinese medicine, many diseases can have the same energy imbalances and one disease can come from different energy imbalances [16]. So, in the tree metaphor, I am showing that all kinds of diseases came from energy alterations in the “root”, including patients with cancer [3].

In the article written by Huang (2023) titled Energy Alterations in Patients with Prostate Cancer and How Can We Treat This Condition to Cure Them? I am showing a case where the patient has prostate cancer and have Kidney Yang

energy deficiency and when I treated his energy imbalances, his prostate can reduce the grade of alterations of the malignancy cell of the prostate measured according to The Gleason grading system [5].

It was also written by Huang (2021) another article titled How Can We Give Hope for Cancer Patients to Cure This Disease? In this article, I am showing that Western medicine is treating the cancer itself but there is the necessity to treat the energy deficiency condition of the five internal massive organs to cure the disease deeply and not just treat the symptoms, that it is cancer itself [28].

In another article also written by Huang (2020) titled The Importance of Treating Energy Imbalances and Chakras Replenishment for Prevention and Treatment of Cancer I am showing that all patients with cancer have energy deficiency inside the five internal massive organs and the treatment of this condition is of paramount to treat the cause of cancer formation [3].

To write this article and to treat this patient, I would like to say that all tools used in this article such as acupuncture and homeopathy are considered medical specialties by the Federal Medical Council in Brazil since 1995 and 1980 respectively [29].

So, what I want to say to finalize this article is that there is a necessity to integrate the knowledge of Western with traditional Chinese medicine, that exists for more than 5000 years to see the patients holistically and not just treat their symptoms as I am showing through the metaphor of Yin and Yang of Western and traditional Chinese medicine, in Figure 9 [3, 4].

Figure 9: The metaphor of Yin and Yang of Western and traditional Chinese medicine.
Figure 9: The metaphor of Yin and Yang of Western and traditional Chinese medicine.

The Conclusion of this Study is to demonstrate that patients with chronic interstitial cystitis have energy deficiency inside the five internal massive organs and the use of any kind of therapy reducing these energies, such as the use of highly concentrated medications (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, anxiolytic, ant-depressive medications, etc) can reduce even more this energy and can increase the chance to have other diseases or cancer in the final stage of evolution from health to disease. The treatment of energy alterations and replenishment of the internal massive organs using highly diluted medications according to the theory of Constitutional Homeopathy of the Five Elements Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine is of paramount importance to treat both diseases (chronic interstitial cystitis and Bladder cancer) in the energy level, improving the internal energy leading to increase of the immune system.

Acknowledgments

I would like to thank my professor of Chinese medicine Dr. Lo Der Cheng (in memory) for all his teachings to understand the energy process involved in the formation of diseases. Without it, it would be impossible to write this article and discover the energy alterations in patients with chronic interstitial cystitis and cancer. Also, I would like to thank Hippocrates (460 BCE - 375 BCE), the father of medicine, for all his oaths that I am using until today to understand that “natural forces within us are the true healers of diseases”.
