Anatomy of the Human Body in the Reflection of Phaleristics on Badges and Best Decorations

Abstract

This article presents the results of the study, the purpose of which was to study the representation of the anatomy of the human body and its individual parts, in the reflection of phaleristics on thematic badges and chest decorations brooches. As illustrations, the article uses screenshots of badges and brooches taken from the Internet thematic collection sites, with strict observance of the copyright of their owners.

Introduction

The study of issues related to world medicine and, in particular, to the issues of representation of the anatomy of the human body, in the reflection of collectibles, is always a topical and demanded issue. If the reflection of anatomy in philately and numismatics has been a natural process for a long time, then the representation of human anatomy in phaleristics, on thematic badges and chest jewelry brooches, is a very limited and, in practice, little studied issue. In any case, when preparing this research article, its author could not find any articles on this topic, both in domestic and foreign publications. In fact, this author’s research article is the first in this matter.

Aim of study

The purpose of this article is to present the results of the study on the reflection of the representation of anatomy in phaleristics - on thematic badges and breast decorations dedicated to various departments of anatomy.

Material and Methods

When writing this article, the author actively used the method of literary-critical analysis of all available sources of thematic information on the issue under study. First of all, the possibilities of the Internet were used, using Internet sites on collecting on the subject under study. All samples of anatomical badges and breast decorations found on the Internet, presented in the article, as illustrations, with strict observance of copyright and indicating the web page and email address from which they were borrowed.

Results and Discussion

After reviewing the results of the study and their systematization, all received screenshots of thematic, anatomical badges and brooches were divided into subgroups, according to the similarity of the presented anatomical materials. This article presents 111 pieces of thematic badges and breast jewelry badges - brooches dedicated to human anatomy and a number of its internal organs. As a result of the study, a significant number of thematic badges and pectoral decorations were found and presented in this article as thematic illustrations, attributed to such a collection tool as phaleristics. All of them, arbitrarily, were divided by the author into small subgroups, depending

on the group of internal organs and body parts to which they belong. So, in Figure 1, icons are presented, with the image of the brain - only 12 copies [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12]. In addition, in this collection, a number of icons are also presented, on which the brain (in the plot image) is presented along with the human heart.

In Figure 2, a selection of icons is presented, depicting the lungs and bronchi of a person - a total of 14 copies [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12].

In Figure 3, there is a collection collection, thematically dedicated to the image of the human heart, both in its entirety and in section, in most cases, with the representation of the coronary vessels - only 35 copies [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12]. In addition to thematic badges, there are also chest jewelry depicting the heart and the cardiopulmonary circulation, and the human circulatory system [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12].

Next, in Figure 4, a thematic selection of icons is presented - only 10 copies, depicting human kidneys, and vessels that supply blood to human kidneys [13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19].

In the following thematic anatomical selection (22 pieces in total) of badges and breast jewelry (brooches), in Figure 5 shows the human digestive system. These are icons depicting the stomach, pancreas, liver, large and small intestines, gallbladder [13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19].

In the collection, in Figure 6, the human reproductive system is represented, with the image of the uterus, ovaries, mammary gland - only 6 copies [13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19].

On Figure 7, badges are presented - 6 copies, with the image of a human eyeball [13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19].

On Figure 8, a small selection of thematic badges is presented - 4 copies, dedicated to human teeth [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12].

This completes the first of a series of author’s research articles on the representation of human anatomy and individual parts of the human body, in the reflection of phaleristics - on thematic badges and breast decorations - brooches. The second part of the article will be devoted to the representation of the human skeleton and its individual bones and joints in phaleristics, on thematic, anatomical badges and brooches.

Conclusions

Based on the results of the presentation of this author’s research article, it can be argued that the human anatomy and its individual parts of the body and organs are presented widely and in a fairly complete volume. Phaleristics and its components, in full, turned out to be able to present such a complex topic as the antomy of the human body. The author of this research article managed to fully achieve its goal by using rich illustrative material, which includes 111 collectible faleristic specimens.
