Abstract

In this paper I will present the use of EMDR (American acronym that stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in classical Jungian therapy. This methodology is very important, not only for treating trauma and stressrelated problems, especially PTSD, but also for speeding up the process of individuation, especially when psychic complexes and blocks are connected to traumas. A rather close alliance between patient and psychotherapist is absolutely needed for ensuring the validity of the setting and a powerful container for the possible strong reactions and emotions of the patients. The integration between Analytical Psychology and EMDR technique can be a powerful instrument for Jungian analysts, interested in contemporary methods that can be very effective for the treatment of traumas.
