Abstract

The benefits of regular physical activity are well known, although sudden cardiac deaths have been described during competitive and non-competitive sports activities, unforeseen and unexpected. We describe three cases of sudden cardiac death, which occurred in three people under the age of 50 years. In all cases the autopsy revealed the presence of severe cardiomyopathies. We emphasize the importance of autopsy in all cases of unexpected deaths of people under 50 years of age; unfortunately, this is not always practiced in Italy at the moment.
