Older people are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; although it is not the most affected age group, it is the one with the most serious forms and the highest fatality. This may be related to several issues: higher proportion of comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etc, all of which are associated with both a higher frequency of infection and a higher fatality rate; less psychological and biological reserves, and finally immune senescence: immunological changes associated with aging. The pandemic presents itself, evolves diversely and impacts in different ways in the lives of young adults and elderly. In this brief review we try to explore diagnosis and evolvement of COVID-19 and impact of isolation in older adults.
