PI3K Inhibition Modulates PON Gene Expression and Disrupts Survival Pathways in Retinoblastoma Y-79 Cells

Abstract

Retinoblastoma is a rare form of cancer that occurs in children below the age of 5. It occurs due to mutations in the RB1 gene. Paraoxonase is a protein that belongs to the PON gene family. It consists of 3 genes, PON1, PON2 and PON3. All three genes have antioxidant properties. PON1 is associated with HDL, whereas PON2 and PON3 are intracellular membrane proteins.
