Ultrasound Guided Therapeutic Nerve Blocks

Abstract

It has long been observed that a simple suprascapular nerve block has a benefit for a variety of shoulder pain conditions. Similarly, a greater occipital nerve block can provide relief to cervicogenic headache and median branch nerve block relieves facet joint pain. It a simple extension of this idea that nerve blocks can be used at other sites to gain pain relief for a variety of chronic painful soft tissue conditions. When patients present with such painful soft tissue problems, commencing a procedure with a nerve block, will make the injection procedure less painful and will have a longer-term additional benefit in pain relief.
