Mamello Sekhoacha is a Professor Mamello Sekhoacha is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the University of the Free State, and previously a Specialist Scientist at the South African Medical Research Council, South Africa. She obtained her PhD in Pharmacology in 2008 from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She holds a BSc degree in Biochemistry and an honours degree in Pharmacology. She has over 18 years’ experience in the Pharmacology research field of drug discovery for treatment of various ailments including cancer, gangrene, and previously for malaria and HIV. She is experienced in experimental laboratory research, in vivo research, and clinical research. Her research addresses challenges of chemo resistance and chemo toxicity through development of targeted of chemotherapeutic nano delivery systems. She develops Phyto-nanomedicine for cancer using green synthesis of nano particles and design of safer and targeted delivery and controlled systems which employ among other techniques, electromagnetic field, stimuli sensitivity, and conjugation of relevant proteins that promote targeted delivery or prolonged activity of the chemotherapeutic agents.
