Xinxing Wang is a research scientist in the Department of neurobiology and behavior, Stony Brook University. She received her PhD in Neurobiology from the University of Science and Technology of China. She has a broad background in neurobiology, with specific training and expertise in in vivo electrophysiology, deep brain imaging, and metabolomics. Her research is focused on neurocircuit and metabolic mechanisms for adult neurogenesis in the aged brain. She reported several important factors that affect the activity-induced hippocampal neurogenesis, including the local neurocircuit activity, metabolite signaling pathway, neurovascular coupling, and energy homeostasis. She proposed endeavor to build on his extensive experience with in vivo imaging and electrophysiology, metabolomics, and computational modeling to study the regulatory mechanisms of adult neurogenesis for improving the cognitive functions of the aging population in physiological and pathological conditions.
