Mingzeng Zhang aspires to become a physician-scientist dedicated to treating patients through experimental therapeutics in lymphoid malignancies. She is particularly interested in developing novel immunotherapies and treatments that target the tumor microenvironment for patients with B-cell lymphoma. She was delighted to join the laboratory of Dr. Mark Murakami at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in March 2022, where she leads an initiative to identify predictive immune biomarkers and nominate therapeutic targets in patients with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas who are initiating treatment with T-cell–activating therapies in clinical trials. In this role, she has established strategic collaborations with colleagues leading lymphoma clinical trials, as well as experts in hematopathology and tissue image analysis. The intellectual opportunities and mentorship provided by Dr. Murakami have positioned her ideally to investigate how the tumor microenvironment contributes to therapeutic response and resistance in B-cell lymphomas. She aims to translate these insights into innovative preclinical therapeutic strategies that can ultimately improve patient outcomes.
