Jian-Jun Li is a Professor and Director, for the Center for Dyslipidemia and Cardiovascular Diseases, Fu Wai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Science and Peking Union Medical School, China. He graduated in medicine from the Wuhan University Medical School, China, in 1983. Having completed his residency at the General Hospital of Hubei Province and First Affiliated Hospital, Wuhan University Medical School, he served as a visiting scholar for the Department of Cardiology, Kyushu University Medical School, Fukuoka, Japan between 1990 and 1995, obtaining his PhD with specialism in gene therapy. He subsequently became a postgraduate research fellow in the Department of Cardiology, Louisville University Medical School, Kentucky, USA. After serving as Professor and Associate Director of the Division of Cardiology, Renmin Hospital, Wuhan University Medical School (1997) and then the Heart Center, TsingHua University Affiliated Hospital, Beijing (2003), he moved to Fu Wai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Science and Peking Union Medical College in 2004 to take up his current role of Professor and Associate Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Coronary Artery Disease. He combines his clinical duties with a productive program of research into mechanisms responsible for the development of coronary artery disease. In addition to authoring/co-authoring more than 350 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals and numerous book chapters, he sits on the editorial board of several prominent journals and acts as reviewer for numerous international peer-reviewed journals. He has also presented his research at various international conferences, and has been selected to deliver over 2000 named or keynote lectures throughout China.
