Tomofumi Matsuzawa is currently a professor at the Department of Information Sciences from Tokyo University of Science, specializing in computer science, mainly communication networks and science, and intelligent informatics. He received a Ph.D. in Engineering in 2004 from the University of Tokyo, Japan. There are three recent research theme trends in his research group. The first is the use of drones to assess the situation in natural disaster-stricken areas, research on autonomous control of drones while communicating with other drones via Mobile ad hoc Networks, and research on analyzing the situation by converting two-dimensional pictures taken by drones into the 3D images of the area. The second is research on using AI to automate the conversion of Japanese words from Kana to Kanji. The third is data analysis using machine learning. The sport-data-analyzing team organized by him has succeeded in winning many awards in Japanese nationwide sports data science competitions.
