Biography

Yousef Sultan, Head of quality control unit for exporting foods, is currently Professor of Food Safety at National Research Centre, Egypt. He completed his BSc in Food Science and Technology, Alexandria University, Egypt. He specified his study in MSc to focus on control of mycotoxins in food. He earned his PhD in Applied Mycology from Cranfield University, UK in 2011. He has been carrying out research in applied aspects of mycology including fungi in extreme environments for more than 22 years. He has an experience in mycotoxins determination using modern techniques including HPLC, mycotoxigenic fungi identification using morphological and molecular methods, application of control strategies for inhibition of mycotoxigenic fungi and its toxins, application of some food safety programs such as HACCP and ISO 22000, accreditation of labs for ISO 17025. Yousef has published 50+ refereed journal papers. He has an H-index of 14 (Google Scholar) and 12 (Scopus).
