During 1981-89, Dr George Zhu's interests were focused on Haemostasis and Thrombosis in clinics. In 1984 he successfully completed his rescuing two patients with severe prothrombin(factor II 0.045,0.025 U/ml respectively) deficiency. In 1989 he completed Master of medicine under the help of professor RM Bertina and AW Broekmans at Haemostasis and Thrombosis Research Unit of University Hospital Leiden in The Netherlands, his studies are designed to investigate some aspects of intravascular coagulation in acute leukemias.
