Dr. Soma Rani Roy is working as consultant and head of Ocular oncology & Oculoplasty department at Chittagong Eye Infirmary (CEITC), Bangladesh which is a tertiary eye care & referral center of the country. She completed MBBS in 2001 from Sher-E-Bangla medical college under Dhaka University and Diploma in Community Ophthalmology (DCO) in 2009 from Institute of Community Ophthalmology under Chattogram University. She also completed FCPS in 2020 from Bangladesh College of Physician & Surgeon; FICO from International Council of Ophthalmologist in 2021; MRCS (Ophth) in 2021 from Royal College of Edinburgh, MRCS (Ophth) in 2022 from Royal College of Glasgow and FACS from American College of Surgeon in 2023. She did 2 years in house fellowship in Oculoplasty from Chittagong Eye Infirmary; ‘International short term fellowship in Oculoplasty on 2014 from Sankara Nethralaya and in Retinoblastoma on 2015 from L .V. Prasad eye Institute, India and prestigious ‘NHGRI’ one month fellowship in Genetics and Genomics from National Institute of Health (NIH), USA. She is one of the surgical trainers for junior ophthalmologists. She is also working as research associate and part time faculty at Institute of Community Ophthalmology, the academic wing of CEITC. She has 30 international (notably in Lancet, British journal of Ophthalmology, JAMA Oncology etc) and more than 20 national published articles. She is a reviewer of some renowned International publishers, notably Elsevier, Dove medical press (Taylor & Francis), Karger, BHOR etc. Recently she became the Editor –in –chief of Bohr International Journal of Cancer Research. She represented her institute in different national and international conferences. Beside this, she is an affectionate mother of two children and a loving wife.
