Le Su is a basic cancer researcher working in the areas of functional genomics and proteomics. Dr. Su earned a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from University of British Columbia. During this time, Dr. Su began to study the mechanistic basis of chromosomal translocations that drive sarcoma development in children and young adults. Taking advantage of the histone code theory, Dr. Su was among the first to describe the connection between fusion oncoprotein signaling and epigenetic regulation of gene expression during sarcomagenesis. As a Junior Fellow at HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and later as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Jacksonville State University, Dr. Su has continued his research interests in sarcoma biology, with the emphasis on developing new therapies targeted to chromosome mutations. His work has been recognized with the awards from Sarcoma Foundation of America, the US Department of Defense, St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Children’s Cancer Research Fund.
