Biography

Khans research has been focused on elucidating the mechanisms in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, especially in response to exposure to environmental and occupational chemicals. He has extensively studied the role of inflammatory cells and pro-inflammatory cytokines in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, especially SLE, in response to exposure to environmental toxicants such as trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene. Furthermore, he has conducted extensive studies towards establishing the role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of SLE in humans.
