Banu Poobalan is a Professional Engineer in the Electronics Engineering discipline registered with Board of Engineers, Malaysia and a chartered member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK. she received her B.Eng. (Hons.) degree (2007) in Industrial Electronics Engineering from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). She obtained her MSc (2010) and Ph.D (2014) degrees from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Electronic Materials for Power Semiconductor Devices. She has served as a researcher at the Energy Efficient Semiconductor Research Center, Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), South Korea. Her professional background is primarily in semiconductor devices, working for companies like First Solar and Infineon Technologies. Her research is mainly focused on power semiconductor devices, electronic & wide bandgap materials, renewable energy and solar cells. She has been elected as one of the Ex-comms of the Institute of Electrical, Electronic Engineers (IEEE) & Electronics Packaging Society, IEEE Malaysia Chapter. Currently, she is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis. She has authored and reviewed many international journals, conference papers and book chapters. She also serves as an editor for an international organization (Academic Exchange Information Centre- AiScholar Editor Board member of Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology Open Access, a technical trainer and theses examiner.
