V K Sashindran is an alumnus of Armed forces Medical College, Pune, India. Served as Professor and HOD of Internal Medicine and first Prof & HOD of Geriatric Medicine at the same institution. Passionate about teaching medicine, Has mentored medical research at AFMC for 15 yrs now. Started a forum for undergraduate research which is now one of the biggest annual undergraduate, medical research conferences in the country. Founding editor of ‘Praxis”, India’s first exclusive undergraduate medical research journal, More than a decade spent in researching HIV-TB and now interested in ageing and high altitude, medicine, Member of the National AIDS Control Organisation technical research group for formulation of adult and adolescent HIV treatment guidelines since 2010. Executive member of the Clinical Infectious Diseases Society of India Other interests include mountaineering and trekking and mountain philately. Numerous published articles on exploration in Arunachal Pradesh and Karakoram mountains. Has led two exploratory expeditions in Karakoram mountains and two in Arunachal Pradesh. Honorary Librarian of the Himalayan Club.
