Gianni Donati graduated in Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Giulio Natta Institute, where he spent his first six years as Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering. Then he joined Agip Nucleare for the design of nuclear fuel reprocessing plants and plutonium fuel manufacturing for Superphoenix reactor (CEA-France). In 1976 Montedison asked him to enter its main research center for the improvement and optimization of industrial plants and development of new processes. The rationalization of the research activity of the labs proceeded in parallel. In this period, as Italian representative of Chemical Reaction Enginering in EFCHE, he contributed to the organization of International Congresses and Symposia. In 1984, after a short experience as Assistant of Managing Director for strategic marketing of research, he joined Montedison holding in the task force founded by Montedison President and then Montefluos as Business Manager. In 1986 Enichem engaged him as Director of Advanced Engineering of central research and, after some years of successful operation, the change in the chemical business in Italy and the long employment history suggested to retire. Nevertheless the last four years in Snamprogetti were full of patents and new developments with industrial application. Parallel to the company job, a professional and consulting activity in the areas of environmental protection and of green chemistry has always been present till nowadays. The old passion in nuclear physics stimulated the investigation of the last question marks and secrets of Nature.
