Biography

Jorge Lozano is working as Lecturer in Ecology at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). His Ph.D. thesis was focused on the ecology of the European wildcat (Felis silvestris) in central Spain and its relationship with the wild rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Some topics dealt were habitat selection, diet, interactions with other species (i.e. ungulates) and population trend. Other scientific areas of interest are: ecology of carnivore species (e.g. stone marten, Iberian lynx, red fox, culpeo, etc) and herbivore species (rabbits, hares, wild boar, red deer, etc), large-scale habitat models, inter-specific interactions, use of resources, the conflict between conservation of carnivores and game activities, the identification of the best areas for mammals conservation in Spain, and the conservation biology of tropical birds in relation to human presence (i.e. ecotourism, fishing, and human activities in general). Furthermore, He investigates about conflicts and ecosystem services that carnivores provide to Society globally. He has experience working in several countries, such as Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, South Africa, Germany and Spain.
