Biography

Dr. Paolo Capozza is a veterinary researcher and Assistant Professor (RTDB) at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy. He obtained his Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences and holds the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in Microbiology and Immunology (SC 07/H3). His research focuses on viral infections in domestic and wild animals, including astroviruses, circoviruses, parvoviruses, hepadnaviruses, and zoonotic agents. Dr. Capozza applies advanced molecular diagnostic tools such as real-time PCR, LAMP, Rolling Circle Amplification, and both Illumina and Nanopore NGS technologies. He also integrates bioinformatics and epidemiological approaches to investigate the genetic diversity and pathogenesis of emerging viruses. He is the coordinator of the PRIN 2022 project COVDC and actively collaborates on national and international research projects. Dr. Capozza serves as Topic Editor and reviewer for several international journals and regularly presents his work at scientific conferences across Europe.

Animal Virology Zoonoses Molecular Diagnostics Virus-Host Interactions Veterinary Microbiology and the Development of Innovative Tools for Infectious Disease Surveillance.
