Keisaku Sato (pronounced as Kay-sa-cu Sar-toe) is a postdoctoral research associate at Texas A&M College of Medicine. He earned Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Massey University, New Zealand. He studied malignant hyperthermia, a rare genetic disorder of skeletal muscle. After graduation, he moved to the U.S. as a postdoctoral fellow and started research in liver diseases. He is currently working on liver macrophage functions during cholestatic liver injury and cholangiocyte communication via extracellular vesicles during biliary inflammation. He also interested in alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver steatosis, and the development of a novel therapy for liver fibrosis and cholangiocarcinoma. Before coming to Texas, he was worked at UMass Medical School, MA and University of Florida, FL. His long-term goal is to develop novel therapies for liver diseases by regulating cholangiocyte activation and functions.
