Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy obtained both his Master’s and PhD degrees in Chemistry from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India. His PhD research focused on the development of various analytical and bioanalytical methods for the analysis of genotoxic impurities and pharmaceuticals. Following the completion of his PhD, he joined the research group at The Centre for Environmental Sustainability and Water Security, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia under the supervision of Professor Zulkifli Yusop as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where he has developed various new polymer and non-polymer based adsorbents for the removal of new emerging pollutants in water. Later in 2019, he moved to the Centre of Research in Ionic Liquids (CORIL), Universiti Teknologi Petronas. As a postdoctoral researcher, he has conducted extensive research on the development of Ionic Liquid based polymers and their application in CO2 capture and separation, dye removal, oil dispersion and recovery of biomolecules through emulsion based membrane techniques. Additionally, he worked extensively on development of various polymer based materials for wastewater treatment. He is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, BMS Institute of Technology & Management, Bengaluru, India. His current research interests include the development of green IL based polymers for the extraction of rare earth and precious metals and removal of metal and organic pollutants. He also focused on the development of effective ionic liquid composites for energy storage applications. He has authored and co-authored over 60 journal articles, 12 invited book chapters and Edited one book ‘Ionic Liquid-based Technologies for Environmental Sustainability’ along with additional papers in conference proceedings and refereed abstracts.
