Seong Jae Kim is a board-certified psychiatrist and sleep medicine specialist. During his postgraduate studies, he developed deep academic interest in sleep medicine and trained a fellowship. During two years, he developed clinical expertise in sleep medicine by seeing patients with a variety of sleep disorders, conducting clinical research. He received recognition for his research achievements, including winning an award for an outstanding paper on the association between sleep variables in the elderly and cognitive functions (2005). Further enhanced his research capabilities by completing a two-year post-doctoral research fellowship at Circadian rhythms and Sleep research lab., Northwestern University, focusing on circadian rhythms, delayed sleep phase syndrome, and depression. Building upon his research expertise, He have been actively involved in multiple national research projects since 2017. He was also contributed as the sole researcher in an international collaborative research project on solar insolation and bipolar disorder and also a member of a task force dedicated to developing chronobiological therapies for bipolar disorder. currently he is working on projects on changes in light sensitivity in patients with Alzheimer`s disease, and in subjects with delayed sleep wake disorder.
