Htin Zaw Soe is Head of Department of Public Health, STI Myanmar College (affiliated with the University of Bedfordshire, UK). He officially retired from Rector of the University of Community Health (Magway) in 2019. He teaches Research Methodology, Biostatistics and Health Informatics, Public Health Laws and Ethics, and English for Academic Writing. He is basically a medical doctor as well as Public Health specialist, research scientist and educator. He obtained MBBS (1985), MMedSc (Preventive and Tropical Medicine) (1996) and PhD (Public Health) (2005) from the University of Medicine (1), Yangon. He conducted many medical and Public Health-related researches and published several original research and review articles in local and international peer-reviewed journals. He received six local research awards, and one international research award of ‘Jacques Parisot Foundation Fellowship Award/Grant (WHO)’ in 2014 to conduct ‘Pilot Studies on Newly Developed Botanical Larvicides and Repellents against Aedes Mosquitoes in Myanmar’, for that a Bronze Medal was conferred on him after successful completion of that research in 2016. He also obtained a certificate in honor of ‘Fellow of Medical Research Council’ from Open Association of Research Society, USA in 2019. At present, he is also acting as a Reviewer/Editor of local and international medical journals, Chair of Ethics Review Board of Research and Development Centre, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement of the Government of Union of Myanmar and a Member of Myanmar Academy of Medical Science (MAMS).
