Biography

Dr. Alex Hankey gained a 1st Class Honours Degree at Cambridge University in 1968, and a PhD in theoretical physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology under Nobel laureate Steven Weinberg and H.E. Stanley in 1972. He spent one year at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. In 1973, he joined Maharishi International University rising to Professor of Physics by 1980. He worked for Maharishi's organisation in many countries for 30 years, lecturing on Vedic sciences, and organizing seminars, international conferences, and courses. He returned to research in 2002. Since 2006, he has worked in India on many projects centred on Ayurveda and Yoga medicine, making significant discoveries in these fields. He has shown conclusively how experimental results on these two systems differ completely from those on biomedicine, and why different criteria from those of biomedicine should be used to experimentally investigate and justify their treatments. He also works on theories of experience in ways showing that the Vedic sciences may be considered in advance of modern science.
