Renata Medina Silva is a Brazilian biologist, with a licentiate degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (1997), a Masters degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology of the same university (2000) and a PhD in Microbiology from the University of São Paulo, Brazil (2004). Since 2005 she is an Adjunct Professor in Microbiology at the Pontifícia Universidade Catolica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) at Porto Alegre, Brazil.
