Agostinho Alves de Lima e Silva ha a Veterinary Medicine degree and a PhD in Parasitic Biology, in the Bacteriology area. Nowadays, he is a professor at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), with the disciplines of Basic Microbiology and Medical Microbiology for the undergraduate course in Biomedicine. He is also a professor of the discipline of Aggression and Defense of the Organism – Microbiology – for the undergraduate Medicine Course at UNIRIO. At Unirio, he coordinate the Laboratory of Biology and Physiology of Microorganisms at the Biomedical Institute-UNIRIO, where he currently coordinate a research project entitled “Effects of Ebselen on Microbial Pathogens”. He is also a collaborating researcher on the project “Prevalence of “interfering” staphylococci in the nasal cavity of healthcare students and its correlation with Staphylococcus aureus carrier status”.
