Andrew received his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology from Purdue University. Subsequently, he was a NIH postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Genetics at Stanford University under the mentorship of Michael P. Snyder. His thesis work focused on identifying determinants of kinase substrate specificity. This understanding was applied to the development of novel kinase-specific peptide biosensors to monitor intracellular kinase activity. He completed his Bachelor of Science in the Department of Chemistry at Xavier University. Currently he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Wayne State University and focuses primarily on peptide-based therapeutic for the modulation of the immune system, glucose metabolism, and the epigenome. He is a member of The American Chemical Society (ACS); US Human Proteomics Organization (US-HUPO) and American Diabetes Association (ADA). He published 24 articles, 9 Conferences Presentations
