Chandi Prasad Nanda who is serving as Professor at NRTI did his Intermediate Arts (1980) and subsequently completed his graduation (1982) in the erstwhile Ravenshaw College. He obtained his Masters (1984), M.Phil (1987) and Ph.D from Center of Historical Studies, Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) in 1996. His research thrusts span a variety of interdisciplinary subjects with focus on exploring the genealogy of modernity, identity and politics based on the registers of critical historiography and postcolonial theory. Interplay between History and Theory; Human Sciences and its Disciplinary Practices; Climate change and human sciences anchored on global and planetary scales; History, Affective and Vernacular Histories; Social history of Health and Medicine in South Asia; Public Health Ethics; and issues of popular Culture and Identity Politics foregrounding aspects of agency and subordination of socially subordinate people of Global South are the themes ‐ which have evolved over the period ‐ as his enduring areas of research interests. He has participated in Orissa Research project of German Research Council (2001‐2005) and International Association for Global Project on the History of Leprosy of Oxford (2001‐2003). He was appointed as Professor in Ravenshaw in the year 2010, and since then he has been associated with several academic and administrative responsibilities of the university. He has joined as the Professor in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI, Vadodara) ‐ rechristened as Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV)), a Central University under the Ministry of Railways, Govt. of India, since August 2021, where he teaches courses on transportation infrastructure in South Asia and its culture of governance, issues of climate change and environmental ethics, philosophy of science designed with transdisciplinary focus. His other academic engagement at NRTI has been to develop a center for study of technology, energy, modernity and climate (TEMC) drawing on multidisciplinary perspectives in order to open up critical conversation between natural and human sciences. He is currently also the Dean‐Administration of NRTI.
