Dr. Anushka Fernando is an accomplished medical scientist with over 18 years of experience in the field of medical laboratory science. He is also a proud alumnus of Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom, where he continues to engage in ongoing research work.
He earned his B.Sc. (Hons) in Biomedical Science from Oxford Brookes University in 2011. Driven by a passion for advancing medical science, he pursued a Ph.D. in Health Science at the Universidad de Granada in Spain. His doctoral research focused on natural antifungal agents, providing valuable insights into alternative treatments for fungal infections and contributing significantly to the field of medical research.
His professional career began at Lanka Hospitals in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he worked as a Medical Scientist from 2009 to 2015. During his tenure, he conducted a range of tests including haematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and immunology, ensuring accurate diagnoses and optimal patient care. In 2015, he transitioned to MedChem Laboratory in Sri Lanka, further refining his skills and expertise in the medical laboratory science domain.
In 2022, Dr. Anushka Fernando relocated to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, where he currently serves as a Senior Medical Scientist at MedChem Laboratory. In this role, he is responsible for designing and leading comprehensive training programs, conducting regular quality control checks, and ensuring compliance with standardized protocols. His technical skills encompass advanced techniques in microbiology, immunology, haematology, and clinical pathology.
Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to laboratory safety and regulatory compliance, consistently providing reliable and timely diagnostic data. He is a registered medical scientist with the Sri Lanka Medical Council and a certified medical scientist with the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists.
