Biography

John Warren Reynolds was born in Montreal, Quebec and now resides in Kitchener, Ontario. He received his biological training at Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph, and Wilmington College, Ohio (B.Sc., 1966), Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana (M.Sc., 1969), University of Tennessee, Knoxville (Ph.D., 1973), and earned other professional degrees from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton (LL.B., 1981), Holland College, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (Dipl. Police Sci., 1982), and Fellow of the College of Freemasonry, Hamilton, Ontario (F.C.F., 2010). John has received grants and research support from the United States Department of Agriculture, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the United States Atomic Energy Commission, the National Institutes of Health and the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to support his research activities. His study of earthworms was under the mentorship of the late Dr. Gordon E. Gates the Dean of American Oligochaetology. He is the author of more than 500 publications in 12 disciplines, the majority of which are are in the field of oligochaetology. He has been the Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Megadrilogica, since its beginning in 1972. John was in charge of oligochaete research at Tall Timbers Research Station, Florida (1972–1976) and a professor in the Faculty of Forestry at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) from 1974–1977.
