Biography

Vinicius Albano Araujo, graduate in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (2003), magister science (2005), doctor science (2009) and a postdoctoral degree (2010) in Entomology from the Federal University of Vicosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He is currently a professor of Zoology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainability, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a researcher, he develop scientific works with reproductive morphology of Arthropoda with emphasis on the male reproductive system and potential application in behavior and systematics. He also research marine tetrapod associated with monitoring data from Brazilian beaches and ethnobiological research with ocean education, using sea turtles as a model. In the field, he carry out conservation work in the Atlantic Forest biome with community ecology, involving floral visitors and aquatic insects, mainly in urban fragments. As an extension worker, he coordinate the InsetVidas Project, which uses ecological services as a platform for scientific dissemination to disseminate the knowledge and importance of Insects. He develop the action Meliponiculture Course: sustainable economic potential, carried out primarily for Brazilian society. He also coordinate the Iurukua Project: Environmental education and conservation of sea turtles, with members working in the five regions of Brazil.
