He earned his Bachelor of Science at National University of Rwanda (currently called University of Rwanda) in Environmental Chemistry in 2012, and his MSc in Environmental and Analytical Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2016, working with Dr Brenda Moodley. In his thesis work he pioneered the determination of concentration level of seven polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in water, soil and sediment from the Msunduzi River, KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa. He is a member of South African spectroscopic society (SASS), South African Chemical Institute (SACI) and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). He has published one technical report on green chemistry in South Africa and one academic paper on concentration level of PAHs in water, soil and sediment from the Msunduzi River, KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa. He has reviewed three manuscripts from the Scifed Journal of Public Health. He is currently conducting a project on treatment of acid mine water drainage (AMD) using low energy advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) where he will use limestone to neutralize this AMD and sodium ferrate (VI) during further treatment as an oxidant of pyrite (main cause of acidity in water) and a powerful coagulant (desalination process).
