Biography

Austin Bargmann was born in Denver, CO. He is a senior at Stanford University majoring in chemistry and pursuing graduate studies in biology with a concentration in immunology. He plans to attend graduate school for chemistry in total synthesis. He presently conducts research with the Burns Group, a synthetic chemistry laboratory, at Stanford. His past research experience includes improving patient health data at a health clinic, characterizing the eating habits of native Australian bees, and synthesis of drugs targeting exosomes. He has a passion for teaching and has tutored in a variety of subjects for a number of years, even assisting at Stanford in teaching general chemistry as a teaching-assistant and being selected as the head teaching assistant for the analytical chemistry course.

Research Interests

Synthesis of and method development for strained hydrocarbons Biological applications for developments made with strained hydrocarbons.
