Biography

Dr. Monique Swift has over 30 years of clinical experience in the field of mental health and operates a private practice specializing in couples therapy and trauma. She consults with public and private entities typically around matters that form at the intersection of trauma and race. Dr. Swift provides ongoing continuing education courses for Rutgers University, the NJ Children System of Care, and CE YOU, Inc. She additionally provides professional development workshops for other agencies, organizations, and institutions as well. As organizational culture and mental health has become increasingly relevant in the workspace, Dr. Swift has been providing customized work retreat experiences. Dr. Swift actively serves on several boards including the Board of Advisors for Volunteers of America, the Newark Community Collaborative Board, the Board of Advisors for the Newark Community Street Team, and the Union County Juvenile Conference Committee under the Family Division of the Superior Court, and she currently sits on the executive board of The Association of Black Psychologists as President-Elect.

Research Interests

Trauma and Resilience Body-Based and Transpersonal Healing Modalities and the Psychology of the Black Experience in America.
