Biography

Emmitt R Jolly is an Associate professor in the Department of Biology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, and holds an adjunct position in the Center for Global Health and Disease in the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He received a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Tuskegee University and a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where his research under the late Ira Herskowitz focused on gene regulation during meiosis. His postdoctoral work, also completed at UCSF, was under James H McKerrow and focused on transcriptomic in schistosomes parasites. Dr Jolly's current NIH funded research group focuses on understanding the transcriptional and translational regulation of gene expression and host invasion by parasitic worms- in particular, the schistosome worm, the causative agent of the human schistosomiasis. In addition, his group works to develop molecular tools to study parasites.
