Patrick Heinrich is a professor at Ca Foscari University where he teach Sociolinguistics and Japanese Studies. Before joining Ca Foscari, he taught at Duisburg-Essen University in Germany and at Dokkyo University in Japan. In linguistics, he was worked on three larger topics: the history of linguistics, language ideology, and language endangerment. Patrick is currently studying the nexus of language and well-being in the Ryukyu Islands. He is a co-editor of the Handbook of Ryukyuan Languages (de Gruyter Mouton, 2015) and of the Routledge Handbook of Japanese Sociolinguistics (Routledge, 2018).
