Dahnhardt was awarded his PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies
(SOAS), University of London and has worked for several years as a Research Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic studies (OXCIS). Since 2009, he teaches Hindi and Urdu language and literature in the Department of Asian and North African Studies (DSAAM) at Ca foscari, University of Venice. Among his publications are Change and Continuity in Indian Sufism (D.K. Publishers, 2002) and the Grammatica di Lingua Urdu (Hoepli, 2012) besides a series of articles on subjects regarding Indo-Islamic culture and Sufism in the South Asian environment.
