Biography

Jorge Mancini-Filho has pharmacist and biochemistry, borned September 1945 Sao Paulo- SP-Brazil, graduated from São Paulo University in 1970. He worked in Butantan Institute – Brazil 1970-1973; and now is working in the Food Science Department at São Paulo University – Brazil since 1974. His master and PHD degrees were held at São Paulo University 1976 and 1982, respectivelly. Visiting professor at University of California – Davis – USA 1984; and in Physiology Institute at Karlsruhe – Alemanha, 1992. He became full professor and director of Pharmaceutical Science Faculty at São Paulo University – Brazil in 2000-2004 and 2008-2012. President of Consultive Council in the Research Pharmaceutical Foundation. He oriented 32 masters and 28 PHD students in graduated program at São Paulo University. Published 200 papers in Scientific Journals with selective editorial politics and three books. In recent year he focused natural antioxidants in fruits, vegetables and algae and its influence on gene expressions of antioxidant enzymes, lipids with fatty acids focus in food. Participated in the “International alliance in functional food research, education and extension” program coordenated by Florida University, in Gainesville - USA; and conjungated linoleic acid (CLA) in animal tissue in the program Ciencia y Tecnologia Development (CYTED) sponsored by Iberoamericans governments.
