Biography

Kothandaraman (K-Raman) Purushothaman has obtained his M.D degree from Madras University and completed his post-doctoral training in pathology at Madras Medical College and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research Center (JIPMER), India. He is involved in Cardiovascular Pathology research since 20 years in USA, in the field of aortic, coronary, peripheral artery atherosclerosis, heart valve and myocardial diseases. His focus of interest is to study neovascularization/inflammation, intra-Plaque Hemorrhage in the evolution of plaque rupture. Extra Cellular Matrixremodeling in human aortic, coronary and peripheral vascular diseases and valvular heart diseases. Evaluation ofexperimental atherosclerosis associated with Diabetes Mellitus and Haptoglobin genotypes. He is actively involved in academic teaching activities in cardiovascular pathophysiology in pathology courses of coronary and aortic atherosclerosis and aortic diseases to medical students and residents.
