Biography

Fe Dolores Parado-Estepa, a BS Biology graduate of the Mindanao State University. She earned two masteral degrees (MS Fisheries and Masters in Management major in Business Management) from the University of the Philippines Visayas, and was able to get a Ph.D. in Biology and Aquaculture in 1999 from the Hokkaido University after she was given a Fellowship grant by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. She employed as Scientist and Head of the Technology Verification and Demonstration Division at the Aquaculture Department of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center. Her most recent studies are on the breeding of captive Penaeus monodon, and nursery rearing of the mangrove crab Scylla serrata and the blue swimming crab Portunuspelagicus. From the various studies she has conducted, she have published more than 40 papers in international scientific or local journals and co-edited 3 proceedings. As part of our task to disseminate technologies that we have developed through research, she also lecture on shrimp species and portunid crab species during our regular short term courses which last for 1 to 6 weeks, and on-site trainings in the Philippines or in other ASEAN countries. She has also reviewed several papers in local and scientific journals to keep me abreast of new developments in my area of expertise.
