Biography

Peygham Ghaffari–Senior researcher at Akvaplan-NIVA. He has a Ph.D. in Dynamical Oceanography from Oslo University and is a research scientist at APN from 2015. He has extensive experience with theoretical mass & energy transport models. His primary focus is on theoretical modeling of wave dynamics, wave and wind-induced mass and energy transport on the sloping topography, which is present in most of the marine environments from oceanic regions to marginal seas. He also is interested in nonlinear energetic eddy field formation and its role in mass/energy transport and dispersion of physical and biological properties, particularly in the Norwegian coastal waters. In terms of experimental Oceanography, he is a sea-going oceanographer and has wide experiences in that field from technical activities e.g., instrument setting/deployment/recovery to data processing and assimilation (DA). He is also interested in the coastal processes and hydrodynamics in the marginal and inland seas. His work includes the development and application of advanced numerical models for oceanic simulations, high-performance computing, long wave’s dynamics, and pollutant transport.
