Biography

Marcus Polette productivity Researcher of the Brazilian National Council of Research CNPq. Represents the brazilian coastal universities in GIGERCO- Inter Ministerial Coastal Management Group in order to discuss the Brazilian coastal and marine public policies. Represents Brazil in the Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment, including Socio-economic Aspects in the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea, Office of Legal Affairs, United Nations Post doctoral UPO - Sevilla / Spain (2008) in order to evaluate the Brazilian effectiveness and efficiency of social, environmental and governance indicators for coastal public policies. Post doctorate in political science from the University of Santa Catarina (2005) aiming to evaluate the National Policy for Coastal Management. Ph.D. in Ecology and Natural Resources at the Federal University of Sao Carlos (1997). MSc in Ecology and Natural Resources by the Federal University of Sao Carlos (1993). Degree in Geography by the Federal University of Rio Grande (1987), Degree in Oceanography by the Federal University of Rio Grande (1989). It has expertise in integrated coastal management in the following institutions: University of Delft (Netherlands) 2004, University of Rhode Island USA (Coastal Resources Center CRC) - 1996, and University of Bologna (Italy) - 2000. Currently are researcher and professor at the University of Vale do Itajai UNIVALI as in the University of Republica do Uruguay UDELar. Founder and editor of the Journal of Integrated Coastal Management for Portuguese-speaking countries. Develops research on integrated coastal management focusing on criative methodologies based on analyzes of governance, social and environmental indicators.
