Lakal Dissabandara completed her medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1998. After completing the medical internship and the clinical training, she joined the home university as a Lecturer in Anatomy, where she also completed a Research Masters Degree (MPhil). She then joined Griffith University Medical School in Goldcoast Australia in 2007. In 2012 she completed my PhD studies at the University of Queensland, Australia researching the epidemiology, genetics and personality traits associated with heroin dependence. She extremely passionate about teaching and learning. At present my main research focus is on medical anatomy education.
