Laura Mason is a lecturer in exercise physiology in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Swansea University. Having completed both a BSc and MPhil from Swansea University she became a member of the lecturing staff in 2005. She has taught on a wide range of modules focussed around anatomy, physiology and kinanthropometry and since 2013 has been the deputy portfolio director for sport and exercise science. Laura is strongly committed to teaching excellence and using technology to enhance the student experience and is currently working on a virtual reality project to create a new learning environment for anatomy students. In 2016 she was appointed as a fellow of the higher education academy. Laura research interests are varied but she specialises in clinical exercise physiology related to chronic kidney disease and renal transplantation and completed her PhD at Swansea University in this field. She also has interests in muscle function, imbalance and injury prevention in elite soccer currently working as a consultant to Swansea City football club. Current projects also include investigations into digit ratio and static lung function.
