He had been working in research with ecophysiological interactions in Agroforestry Systems since my Masters degree beginning 1998, having acquired a great deal of knowledge in this area. He worked as a Professor at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture ESALQ-USP - in Piracicaba-SP-Brazil - in this same area of knowledge, and also assuming the Ecology position. Most of my research is about the interactions between plants and their interactions with the environment. He tried to verify the possibilities of increasing production by increasing the efficiency of resource use, adapting plants to different environments and using more sustainable management practices land use systems. More recently He had also addressed aspects of land-use change both at the forest - agriculture interface and at the adoption of new practices at different scales and their ecological consequences. He also aims to understand traditional farming systems, such as shifting cultivation, for its capacity for carbon stocks, maintaining biodiversity, impacts on soil fertility and sustaining people in order to contribute to their development and thus avoiding the use of technological packages. He recently worked as a visiting professor at the Center for Agroforestry at the University of Missouri - USA, participating in several research projects.
