Mr. Utkarsh Ghate holds a doctorate in botany (field taxonomy) from Mumbai University, India and has worked in many voluntary agencies in nature conservation, rural livelihoods improvement and climate smart agriculture. Forestry, medicinal plants, herbal products are his favourite topics including public health & biodiversity. He has toured across India and co-founded the NGO RANWA (www.ranwa.org) to impart nature education and research aptitude to college students at Pune. He has over 50 research publications in scientific journals including 12 in SCOPUS/ web of science (WOS) accredited journals and is reviewer of some journals. He has travelled 11 countries for environmental conferences and paper presentation. He then directed Gram Mooligai (Village herbs) co. ltd. owned by rural women herb gatherer groups for fair trade with corporate clients such as Dabur, winning the national biodiversity award, 2016. He was consultant at Wadhwani Artificial Intelligence, Mumbai to develop farmers’ cotton pest management app.
