Akhilesh Pathak is presently working as a Professor & Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology at AIIMS, Bathinda, Punjab, and he is also DEAN of ACADEMICS at AIIMS BATHINDA. He is also the Coordinator of the Medical Education Unit and “Member of the Ethics Committee” in AIIMS, Bathinda, and Nodal Officer of UG and PG admissions in AIIMS Bathinda. Before this, he was Dean of Examination, Chairman of the Recruitment Cell, Chairman of the Procurement Cell, and Chairman of the Sports Committee & Mess committee at AIIMS Bathinda. He was awarded an MD in Forensic Medicine by S.M.S. Jaipur in 2004 and a postgraduate Diploma in Health and Law” in 2018. Recently, he was honored by the Eminent Scientist Award, Distinguished Professor Award, Iconic Professor & Research Award, and Best Researcher Award. He has 24 years of Teaching Experience. Pathak has conducted around 3000 autopsies of all types, including Asphyxia, Burns, firearms, Road accidents, Homicide, Poisoning, Custodial deaths, etc. He has given lots of court testimony in the cases of autopsy conducted. He is a certified Postgraduate Guide, and the students who are doing masters degrees in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology are registered under him. Presently, he is also teaching 200 students doing their undergraduate courses in medicine in India. As an Organizing Chairman, he organized over 20 Conferences, CMEs, and Workshops in AIIMS Bathinda in the last four years. He has delivered around 30 Guest lectures as a guest speaker at various National and International Conferences, CMEs, and webinars, attended more than 65 conferences, and actively participated in Chairing various Scientific sessions and as a Jury Member in Poster & Paper Presentations in multiple conferences all over India. He has published 65 research papers in various National & International Journals. He is also the author of a forensic medicine textbook, “Editor of a National Forensic Journal,” an editorial board member, and a peer reviewer in around 12 specialty journals from India and abroad. He has evaluated more than 35 theses from various universities in Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh. He is also a member of various scientific bodies in India and other countries.
